The best month of the year has arrived people! No, I'm not talking about Leo season. It's October or, let's be real here, HALLOWEEN MONTH.

This is the tenth year I've been doing this little tradition (damn, I'm old!) and to celebrate this most auspicious of occasions I've decided to watch my current favorite of every horror sub-genre.

"But Nas, are there really 31 horror sub-genres?" I hear you ask skeptically.

"Yes, there are, inner monologue. Grab a pumpkin spice anything and enjoy the witty commentary."

I bring to you NAS’ OCTOBER ORGY OF VIOLENCE X - TEN YEARS OF BLOOD.

1. Meta-Horror - Cabin in the Woods

I love Joss Whedon, I love the smart dialogue, I love his characters. Buffy was my first big TV obsession. When I heard he was making a horror movie way back in 2011, I was beyond psyched. I avoided any and all spoilers to the point that I didn't even watch the trailer. And I LOVE movie trailers. I went into this completely blind, and when the movie revealed itself as this awesome commentary on horror tropes I fell in love with it.

It has all the Whedonisms I know and love, Chris Hemsworth and Jesse Williams being their painfully sexy selves, and one of the coolest sequences ever with the monster elevators. (I STILL need to watch that whole scene frame by frame one day.) Smart, funny, and filled with blood, this is one that will never get bumped out of my top 31.
